DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Our work begins with a careful reading of what already exists – the building, the land, and the life around them. We look for traces and latent qualities in these conditions, then use them to guide designs that are grounded in place and attuned to contemporary ways of living.

Across our projects, several principles consistently guide our approach.

First, we are strongly influenced by Minimalism. We prioritise simple functionality and understated beauty, allowing space and form to be clear and legible rather than visually competing for attention. Through restraint and deliberate simplicity, we aim to create environments that are calm, ordered and comfortable to inhabit.

Second, we favour natural materials and neutral tones. These selections draw on the qualities of nature and help create spaces that feel composed, open and relaxed. We are interested in how a space performs and feels over time, not only in how it appears. To support this, we keep the material palette as focused as possible, aiming for clarity, consistency and coherence throughout each project.

Lastly, we seek to soften the boundary between indoors and outdoors. By framing views, introducing natural light and extending spatial sequences into gardens and courtyards, we strengthen the connection to landscape. In residential work in particular, this connection contributes to a higher quality of everyday living and supports the well-being of occupants.

This brief outline of our design philosophy reflects how we think, design and deliver. We aim to work with clients and collaborators who share these values and an appreciation for quiet, considered design.
